Firstly our feedback from Easter Puddle Jumpers 2017.....
Feedback from our Easter Puddle Jumpers suggested that we were meeting your childcare needs flexibly, and meeting your families care needs :)
We asked for any suggestions of improvement, with no comments received back
We also asked what were the most popular and least popular aspects of the programme:
BEST included: woods, marble run, snack time, making gingerbread houses and villages, bug hotels, beltane tees, making friends, making a mess and the quests! So....... we have our QUEST 2017 planned for the summer holidays!!! And lots of opportunity for messy play :)
LEAST: no negative feedback received. One comment made about the different age groups of children in attendance and the fact that older children don't necessarily want to play with younger children. This summer we have lots of activities planned that can be simplified and adapted to suit our younger users, and extended and made more challenging for our older users. There really is something for everyone!
THIS SUMMER WE HAVE AN ACTION PACKED PROGRAMME!
We've picked a selection of 19th and 20th century children's novels that are most suitable for reading together. These books imaginatively illustrate the strength and resilience of young folk, and are set in communities where children have the freedom to roam, and carers take a sensible approach to risk.
There will be prizes for families that undertake the Puddle Jumpers reading challenge - younger children might enjoy finding our what happens when Singing Dog picks a fight with his clan chieftain in Shifting Sands, or maybe they want to ride the space belts with Kemlo. Adventurous types can meet Arthur Ransome's formidable Captain Nancy Blackett (she of Swallows and Amazons fame) or come on a fantastical journey with Mavis, Francis, Kathleen and Bernard, who have been left to play on the beach....
So choose a book, or read all six - texts are available online and in some cases, as e-books, or even on youtube.
Please keep us up to date on how you get on....
(see also our facebook page for information)
Activities include, trips to Campster Cairns, Fort George, Lairg Sailing Club and into Dornoch during Festival Week, puppet making, water fights, den building, technology and designing, storytelling in conjunction with history Links, treasure hunts and code breaking, raft building and float creating.....and back by popular demand....QUESTING!!!
We look forward to seeing you all at Summer Puddle Jumpers 2017
